If you’ve finished your graduate program and passed your exams, you’re ready for the next step: supervised experience as an LPC Associate. Here’s what that path looks like, and how we support you through it.
The Texas path to full licensure, briefly:
In Texas, LPC Associates practice under the supervision of a Board-approved LPC Supervisor while completing the supervised experience required for full licensure. In general terms, that means:
- 3,000 total hours of supervised experience, including at least 1,500 hours of direct client contact
- A minimum of 18 months in supervised practice
- At least 4 hours of supervision each month with your supervisor
(Requirements are set by the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council and can change — we’ll always walk you through the current standards when you join us, and you can find the latest official requirements at bhec.texas.gov.)

A note on practice sites: Texas BHEC requires every LPC Associate to secure their own approved practice site — this is separate from, and in addition to, clinical supervision. GLW is your clinical supervisor, not your site supervisor, and we don’t currently have in-house office space to offer, though we’re actively working toward that. What we do offer is real, hands-on help finding, building, and credentialing a site of your own.
